The increasing number of private vehicles in urban areas has resulted in serious transportation challenges such as traffic congestion, fuel wastage, and rising pollution levels. To overcome these problems, this paper presents RideLink, an Android-based carpooling system designed to promote shared mobility and sustainable commuting.
RideLink allows users to register as drivers or passengers and enables them to create, search, and book rides in real time. The system integrates Firebase Realtime Database for secure data handling, Google Maps API for live tracking and navigation, and an AI-based ride matching algorithm to recommend the most suitable rides based on route similarity and timing. It also includes digital payment support and an SOS safety feature to ensure reliability and user security.
By encouraging ride sharing and reducing the number of vehicles on the road, RideLink helps minimize travel costs, fuel consumption, and environmental pollution. The system demonstrates how intelligent mobile and cloud technologies can create a practical and eco-friendly transportation solution.
